May 15, 2007 Contact: Local Authors United for the Troops
South Shore, MA - Have you ever wondered what can you do to give back to the troops who risk their lives every day for this country? Five Lakeville, MA, area authors put those thoughts into action one Saturday in March when they met for the Lakeville Public Library first local author showcase and symposium. That day Local Authors United for the Troops was born. On June 14, the authors will be putting this program into action, to be held at the Lakeville Public Library from 3pm-7pm. The authors will be sending 10-15 copies of their books, to be forwarded to the troops in Iraq. The books will bring a little diversion, stimulate the minds of the troops and remind them that people back home are thinking of them. And the idea is spreading: many other generous authors have already joined this group to donate their books as well. From romance to murder, the troops will have it all in this mix of books. Jan Bornstein's novel, Beyond Beautiful, chronicles the roller coaster romance of two rock gods. Volume one in The Song Trilogy introduces us to the two main characters, Scott and Jenna, giving the reader a sneak peak backstage into their lives, from dealing with painful pasts to finding true love with each other. Michael DeCicco's book, Kaurlins Disiplines, brings you into the world of a high school English teacher in the late 60s. The drama unfolds as a student falls in love with this youthful and dynamic teacher. Juckets and its sequel Swamp Yankees, by Joyce Walsh, delves into mysteries, serial murders and unresolved disappearances in a fictional New England town is the setting of her other Pittsley Chronicles series books.. A Healing Heart, by Alberta Sequeira, is a spiritual memoir inspired by her father's illness and death. Sequeira's father, a retired brigadier general and commanding officer of the 26th Yankee division during World War II, passed away before the author truly got to know him. The book chronicles Sequeira's journey from despair to renewed faith. Patricia Perry's award nominated fantasy novel, Quest for the Source of Darkness, is full of intrigue, adventure, magic and surprises. The much anticipated sequel, The Fortress of Darkness, will be released later this summer. If you are an author and would like to participate in the program or have any questions please contact Aaron Bornstein who is coordinating this effort at aaron@localauthorsunited.org |
